gLite File Transfer Service FTS knowledge base

CSCS specific information

The service for incoming transfers into CSCS is operated by GridKa. The channel's name is STAR-CSCS and the FileTransfer endpoint is at https://fts-fzk.gridka.de:8443/glite-data-transfer-fts/services. Local channel managers: PeterKunszt, FrederikOrellana, DerekFeichtinger.

There is a special, dedicated channel from CSCS into CERN that has been established for SC4, because it makes debugging easier: The channel's name is CSCS-CERN and the associated endpoint is https://prod-fts-ws.cern.ch:8443/glite-data-transfer-fts/services. Local channel manager: DerekFeichtinger.

Endpoints for all centers can be found on this LCG wiki page. This is important for now, since the glite-transfer-discovery command mentioned below is not available/functional in our current version.

There is a separate page about our debugging efforts of the CSCS related channels hosted by FZK.

Things to know

The documentation is quite unorganized as of May29 2006. It is important to note that all of the (good) documentation is in the man pages of the glite-transfer- executables. So the best way of getting to know how to use the FTS is to list all glite-transfer commands and reading through their man pages.

A very important tool to know is called glite-transfer-discovery which will look in the information system trying to find the FTS endpoint that needs to be contacted to run the given transfer.
