Updating the SLC3 kernel to 2.6

The kernel update should be a simple and straightforward procedure and according to documentation does not have any negative reprercussions on the software running on it. This would give us the advantage of being able to support maintenance software and also larger disks.

The SLC3 Documentation says how to upgrade the kernel quite easily.

This is now scheduled to take place at the same time as the LCG 2.7 Upgrade, see LcgUpgrade.
