Policies for the resource allocation on the PSI Tier-3

These policies were agreed upon in the first and second Steering Board meetings. They need revision in 2020. The physics groups of the original era are no longer sensible. The proposal to just convert them to institutional groups (ethz, psi, uniz) has been made.

  1. We organize the users along Physics Groups (the groups may need to be revised in 2020)
    • For the purpose of the cluster organization, every user must be mapped exactly to one physics group (even though the user may work for several).
  2. Each physics group has one Responsible User who
    • takes care of managing the group's resources (e.g. deciding what data sets to delete).
    • is the single point of contact for the cluster administrators for organizational issues.
    • can propose a guest user
  3. The resources are equipartitioned between users. I.e. each user has the same rights to resources, e.g. we do not prioritize jobs base on user groups, etc.

Access to Login nodes is based on the institution

The access is not restricted to allow for some freedom, but you are requested to use the UI dedicated to your institution.
