We will start the service with just 2 of our 6 thumpers online, and gradually add the remainder as storage is needed. This still gives us the possibility of changing the OS of the remaining machines and migrating files, if this becomes necessary. Having now a mostly working infrastructure, we can sign up to the official services of the LCG Grid and of CMS. Here you can see the current status and a high level todo list: * Installing a Site Information provider service, needed for publishing our site information to Grid services. * Applied for registration in GOC data base as T3_CH_PSI. The GOC DB is a directory of all official EGEE/LCG grid sites. Application sent to the German-Swiss Regional Operation Center (ROC DECH). * This requirement only became clear after looking into some issues with certain transfer services. At first we thought that we could _piggy-back_ on the Tier-2 by listing our Storage there. * Asked at Tier-1 !GridKa for hosting of an FTS data channel for our wide area transfers. The !GridKa site manager (Andreas Heiss) said they will build us such a channel. Requires registration in GOC data base. * Got registered in !PhEDEx, the CMS wide area transfer system for official data. Requires a working FTS data channel. * Need to do a number of transfer exercises * Testing CRAB with our local batch system (SGE. DESY is using this too). This probably needs most of the above things in place, since CRAB is a complex application sitting on top of a number of services. With a lot of luck and without any undue problems surfacing, we may be able to get most things ready within a week. A conservative approach would assume two weeks. Then, first test users could start to work on the system. ----------------- %FORMFIELD{"User"}% %FORMFIELD{"Date"}%
