New T3 shome & swshare mounted in /mnt/t3nfs01/data01/{shome,swshare}

Dear T3 users

the current T3 shome crashes are becoming too much frequent so we've decided to release the New T3 shome in order to both mitigate these crashes and get your precious feedback about this New critical filesystem

by user the New T3 shome is available on each t3ui* and t3wn* server in :

/mnt/t3nfs01/data01/shome/$USER

with already all your files and dirs as they were yesterday ; to make them consistent simply copy by cp -pr all your latest dirs/files from :

/shome/$USER

to :

/mnt/t3nfs01/data01/shome/$USER

by user the New T3 shome snapshots are available in :

/mnt/t3nfs01/data01/shome/$USER/.zfs/snapshot

they're daily backuped into another server for safety reasons

this New T3 shome is so powerful that it will support also the most aggressive T3 users but please don't abuse of it because both you've a max quota of 210GB on it ( to be shrunk !! ) and for heavy productions the local t3wn*:/scratch filesystems will globally offer you more space / better performances / network failure protection ; if we'll notice recurring unmanaged abuses we'll accordingly decrease the priority of such users in order to let work the others

the current T3 shome will be left 'AS IT IS' and you can certainly continue to use it during the next weeks but we actually discourage its usage ; we remind you that it features snapshots in :

/shome/.zfs/snapshot/

daily backuped into another server for safety reasons ; aim is to decommission it in the upcoming month(s)

less important than the current T3 shome because it seldom changes, also the current T3 swshare got migrated in :

/mnt/t3nfs01/data01/swshare

the current T3 swshare will be left 'AS IT IS' and you can continue to use it during the next weeks ( the current batch system queues also depend on it ) ; same aim like before, we want to decommission it in the upcoming month(s)

in summary during 2016 the current T3 shome & swshare will be decommissioned and the New T3 shome & swshare might be either mounted in their historical dirs ( /shome /swshare ) or simply left where they're now ( actually it's not a best practice to mount a remote file system in a top dir like '/adir' ) ; in the latter case we'll switch your $HOME from from /shome/$USER to
